Celebrity Drug Rehab-Rehab and Recovery

We seem to be surprised by finding out about celebrity drug abuse problems despite knowing that their lives often are high pressured, full of difficult
childhood situations and torn apart often due to inner conflicts. This
disillusions most people because there is the hope that fame and money would alleviate most problems.  Here are some celebrity drug abuse names that have been in the news. Some have had success with overcoming the addiction and others still are in the battle.Britney of course has been in the news so much in 2008 and Lindsey along with other young celebrities as well as the tragic deaths of Ledger and Renfro.

1) Drew Barrymore

Depsite the innocent look of Drew from her wonderful parts in 50 first dates as well as Fever Pitch , Drew had a difficult time with drugs at a young age.
At age 9 she was smoking (cigarettes). At 10 she was smoking pot and in her early teens did cocaine. She is a success story now and has overcome her problem. This is good to remember as many celebs increase drug abuse with fame.

2) Whitney Houston

Whitney was known for her beautiful singing voice and on American Idol several aspiring singers have tried to sing “Run to You” from the Body Guard but often can’t catch the notes as Whitney had. She has a long history of rehabs and the tabloids published photos in mid 2000s of drug paraphenalia around her home (allegedly). She had told Diane Sawyer in an interview in early 2000s that she had been very close to overdosing a number of times.

3) Pat O’Brien

Pat O’Brien went into rehab in February 2008. He has been the co-anchor
of Access Hollywood as well as hosting Insider Edition. His alcoholism has
been a struggle over the years and he has a history of recovery treatment
programs.

4) Amy Winehouse

Although she appears to truly have had the skin disease impetigo which is
a bacterial infection, either staph or strep, that is easily spread on one’s body and highly contagious, her drug use is still speculated by many
around the net. Her suppliers were recently in court (Oct 31, 2008) and pled guilty for selling her cocaine and ecstasy in the past. They also created and leaked a video for profit of her smoking crack.

Though we think lack of money is why we fall into addictive habits, it’s
clear that discontent can occur with money as well. Finding one’s own
inner truth and peace and being able to adjust to adverse circumstances
is what gives us a strong anchor.
