Marriage To An Alcoholic

marriage to an alcoholic Marriage to an alcoholic or any long-term relationship with someone who drinks heavily can be incredibly difficult. Are You An Enabler

are you enabling It’s very difficult if you have watched someone you love battle with addiction. If you are a mother or a wife, one of the primary traits of being a woman involves care – we want to help, nurture and do anything we can to “help” the addict. We try to make excuses for them, or do anything we can to keep them “safe” so we can be there when they need us. Do you enable drinking or substance abuse in a loved one?

There are many cases of people actually going out and buying the drug of choice for their loved ones – so they don’t get into nasty situations while their minds are not clear, or we provide them with money, so they are not forced to go out and steal and get into worse trouble. Hard and Soft Drugs: How Are They Different

hard and soft drugs There is a blurred line between what are commonly termed as “hard” and “soft” drugs. Hard drugs refer to be those that are addictive and lead to adverse health effects.

Alcohol, tobacco and caffeine are all drugs, but there is little attempt to regulate or classify these. Alcohol and tobacco are both addictive and can cause serious long-term health effects and death. Perhaps the addition of taxes makes them appear to be okay. Compared to both alcohol and tobacco, a long-term user of marijuana is rarely called an addict, as it has never been classified in the same way as tobacco (although everyone knows that tobacco is addictive and kills thousands of people annually). Alcohol can also cause serious health and behavioral problems too and many argue that more lives are ruined by excessive use of alcohol than excessive use of marijuana. Read the rest of this entry »
